Welcome to the funding page for “Binding” a short film written and produced by DePaul University Film students. The film centers around themes of divine intervention, morality, religion, the duality of relationships, and the discrimination of the African American community in the American South. We believe that this film is important for multiple reasons. Primarily, we believe it begins a dialogue about the pros and cons of organized religion, explores themes of free will and determinism,  as well as takes a small dive into what it means to be an African American in the 70s. We hope that with the resources we have provided you on this page you see the same intelligent and fascinating vision that our team sees and that you will donate to the production.

Set on Christmas Eve 1978, the story follows a devout couple Kurt, and Sharon Duvall. After the pastor of their church mysteriously does not show up for dinner, the two decide to investigate the pastor's house only to find the pastor's wife dead.

The crew of “Binding” features some of DePaul’s most promising up and coming students in the film program. DePaul University was recently recognized as the top school in the country by Variety 2018, as well as the 13th ranked American film school by Hollywood Reporter. While the key word is “students”, these filmmakers hold plenty of real-world experience under their belts. Having worked on multiple sets, as well as writing and producing their own work, our crew is ambitious and are in line to be at the top of their class at DePaul in the coming years. The chemistry between these crew members also equates to their success; sharing the same learning environment for the past few years heavily contributes to their productivity and consistency with obtaining quality work opportunities.
